Blues set to sign 23-year-old Portuguese right back from Valencia
Things aren’t going well at Stamford Bridge. With a clear lack of depth in the squad, the reigning Champions could be set for another setback in their title defense. Meanwhile, the Blues manager hasn’t been shy about admitting the condition. The Italian wants the club to provide him at least three new players.
Chelsea are short of wing-backs, a midfielder and possibly an attacking midfielder. However, Blues are looking deep into the transfer market to make amends. According to reports, Valencia right back João Cancelo is on the shortlist for the London club.
Chelsea’s only option in the right-back position stands to be Victor Moses. The former Wigan star naturally plays as a winger but impressed for Chelsea as RWB last season.
However, despite the everlasting impression the Nigerian set at Chelsea last season, a backup is indispensable to maintain the standards throughout the season.
João Cancelo is a relatively young option and played for Portugal in U-21 Euro Championships. Under the guidance of Blues manager Antonio Conte, he can forge a formidable defense for the Blues.
Chelsea will look to sign the Portuguese right back as soon as possible to provide Antonio Conte with the ammunition he needs ahead of the season opener on Saturday.
