Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has reportedly begun to discuss a new contract as he remains determined to get his place in the starting XI.

The mid fielder was a key figure at Old Trafford last season, taking part in an integral role in their trophy haul as he established himself as a regular in Jose Mourinho’s team.
However, despite making fifty appearances and winning the club’s Player of the Year award, the £40m arrival of Nemanja Matic this summer, as noted by The Guardian, has forced the 28-year-old to the bench as Mourinho has preferred to partner the Serbian ace with Paul Pogba in the mid-field.
Despite losing his place, it is rumored by The express that Ander Herrera isn’t considering quitting Man Utd, however instead can still fight for his place and can pen a new contract to indicate his commitment to the club with negotiations already underway.
Ander Herrera started within the 2-2 draw with stoke city on Saturday whereas he’s expected to face Basel in the Champions League on Tuesday night too.
In turn, he has the chance to convince Mourinho that he deserves to remain in the starting XI. But Mourinho has stated he will play Matic along side with Paul Pogba, and it’s difficult to see Herrera there.
He former Athletic Bilbao ace will see his current contract expire at the end of the season then a new deal is required.
The mid fielder will sign a new contract and fight for his place at Old Trafford and show Mourinho what he is capable of.
