Chelsea enter the next stages of the Champions League, thanks to a 4-0 win over Qarabag at Baku.
A brace from Willian was enough for an out-of-intensity Chelsea side against a 10-man Qarabag in the Champions League group stage game on Wednesday.
Who started for the English heavyweights?
Willian made his 200th appearance for the club with Cesar Azpilicueta captaining the English champions.
Likewise, Pedro also started for Chelsea, along with Eden Hazard in a false nine position.
The Blues boss Antonio Conte retorted back to 3-4-3 formation after playing 3-5-2 against West Brom and Manchester United.
Qarabag started relatively well with an attempt hitting the pole and troubled Chelsea on the wings in the first twenty minutes.
However, captain Sadiqov tripped Willian in the d-box for blocking goalscoring opportunity which also earned him a red.
It was a harsh decision from the referee to give the defender a red – as the tackle didn’t look cynical enough.
Eden Hazard, subsequently scored from the spot kick to give Chelsea a 1-0 lead.
Moreover, The Brazilian international was on spotlight again for scoring Chelsea’s second. Hazard cheekily slid in the ball for the former Shakhtar star who made no mistake for his first goal in the Champions League this season.
In the second half, Willian earned his side yet another penalty after Garayev was caught pulling his shirt inside the box.
Cesc Fabregas took the mantle in the spot this time and the Spaniard scored comfortably to extend Chelsea’s lead.
Finally, the controversial figure for the entirety of the game, Willian put the final nail in Qarabag’s coffin with a clinical right-corner finish from outside the box.
The win books a place in the knockout stages for the English champions. They now face Liverpool in the Premier League next week who are on a hot form themselves.
