Top Ten all-time leading goalscorers in Bundesliga history


Bundesliga is one of the most exciting leagues in European football.

The level of quality in the league is clearly demonstrated by their national team and much of their attributes – speed, skill and incision are trademarks of the domestic league.
Several goalscorers have blessed the German soil over the years – with the likes of Gerd Muller and current Bayern manager Jupp Heynckes front-runners in the list.
Here are ten leading goalscorers in the Bundesliga history:

10. Hannes Lohr

Lohr was born in 1942 and was an active professional football player from 1964 – 1978. He played for FC Koln. He had 381 appearances representing the German club in which he scored 166 goals.

9. Klaus Allofs

Sixty years old retired German football player, Allofs had played as a striker during his youthful years.
He played for three different clubs in Bundesliga including Fortuna Dusseldorf, FC Koln and Werder Bremen.
The forward was active in Bundesliga from 1975 to 1987 and 1990 to 1993. He scored 177 goals in that duration.

8. Dieter Muller

Muller also played for three different German clubs: FC Koln, VfB Stuttgart and FC Saarbrucken and scored 177 goals. He played in Bundesliga across two spells from 1973 to 1982 and 1985 to 1986.
The striker scored 173 goals in his first spell and eventually left for Bordeaux in France. After finishing three seasons at the French club, he joined Swiss club Grasshopper Zurich where he played just seven games in the first half of the season.
Consequently, he returned to Germany once again and scored 4 in 23 appearances for Saarbrucken in his last Bundesliga campaign.

7. Stefan Kuntz

Played as a striker for four different Bundesliga clubs, Stefan Kuntz had scored 179 goals in Bundesliga which puts him in the seventh position.

6. Ulf Kirsten

Ulf Kirsten played for Bayer Leverkusen from 1990 to 2003 and appeared in 350 games during his time in Bundesliga. He scored 182 goals for the German club.

5. Claudio Pizarro

Meanwhile, the only non-German player on the list played for SV Werder Bremen, FC Bayern Munich and FC Koln.
He has scored 191 goals and is still active, representing FC Koln presently.

4. Manfred Burgsmuller

Having played for four different clubs: Rot-Weiss Essen, Borussia Dortmund, FC Nurnberg and SV Werder Bremen, Manfred Burgsmuller was active from 1969 to 1990. He scored 213 goals during his time in Bundesliga.

3. Jupp Heynckes

In the meantime, the former forward of Borussia Monchengladbach and Hannover 96 and present manager of Bayern Munich, Jupp Heynckes, has played for two German clubs from 1963 to 1967 scoring 220 goals.

2. Klaus Fisher

Fisher played for TSV 1860 Munchen, FC Schalke 04, FC Koln and VFL Bochum from 1968 to 1988 and scored phenomenal 268 goals in 535 appearances in Bundesliga.

Finally, Bayern Munich legend Gerd Muller holds the record for Bundesliga’s leading top-scorer.
Muller played for the German club from 1964 to 1979. During his time in the German club, he scored remarkable 365 goals.
Furthermore, the forward is widely considered to be one of football’s best ever players.
Now seventy-years old, the striker had won Golden Boot as top goal scorer in 1970 FIFA World Cup in which he scored ten goals.
