Erik ten Hag has stated that despite Anthony Martial having trained with Manchester United for a few days, he will continue to be careful with his return to action.
The Frenchman has not started a game since the 14th of January when he was brought off at half-time against Manchester City. His last appearance came at the beginning of February against Nottingham Forest.
Erik ten Hag has explained that he will remain cautious with Anthony Martial’s return to action despite being in Manchester United training for a number of days.
Martial has been hampered by injuries this season, making just 14 appearances overall, just eight of which have been as a starter. United are still hesitant about his return going into their Premier League matchup against Southampton.

It seemed like a great opportunity for him to reset his Old Trafford career under the management of Ten Hag. We can see the same for Rashford who is currently in the form of his life.
It is expected that Martial will make a comeback in the upcoming games, however, the Dutch manager does not want to take any risks in regard to his recovery.
“Yeah, I think we had a good plan and it worked, not always good, but yeah, he’s on his way back,” explained Ten Hag. “He’s back in training, but we will be cautious yeah.”
Ten Hag might be aiming to use the same rehabilitation strategy that he used for Raphael Varane in the preseason when he was on a rigid schedule and hardly ever played minutes on tour.
Manchester United bounced back from the embarrassing defeat at Anfield by comfortably defeating Betis in the Europa League and would need the assistance of Martial in the upcoming difficult fixtures if they want to win another cup this season.
