According to Belgian writer Sacha Tavolieri, Premier League powerhouse Chelsea has reignited their interest in Everton midfielder Amadou Onana.
The Blues are preparing for significant midfield departures this summer. Mason Mount is reportedly leaning towards a move to Manchester United. At the same time, Mateo Kovacic is rumored to have reached a personal agreement with Manchester City.
Conor Gallagher might be leaving, and N’Golo Kante has decided to join Al-Ittihad of the Saudi Pro League.
Thus, Chelsea has focused on adding a new midfielder before the 2023–24 campaign. Despite abandoning the race for Manuel Ugarte to Paris Saint-Germain, they have been associated with players like Moises Caicedo, Declan Rice, and Nicolo Barella.
According to the aforementioned source, Everton midfielder Onana has suddenly become a target for the Stamford Bridge team.

Onana, 21, transferred to the Toffees from French club LOSC Lille last summer for £33 million. He continued to play for the Merseyside-based club in 35 games across various competitions, recording one goal and two assists while keeping them from being relegated.
Chelsea expressed interest in the Belgian international in January due to his first-half performances for Everton. Even though the player’s entourage was conversing with the Blues, a transfer did not occur.
At the time, Tavolieri disclosed that Onana turned down the English powerhouses to finish the season at Goodison Park.
According to the journalist, Chelsea has recently rekindled its interest in the former Lille star. The midfielder is attracting the attention of Mauricio Pochettino’s team, who have reopened transfer talks.
Onana joined Everton only last summer, yet his contract runs through June 2027. However, the article claims that the Toffees are willing to sell him for £55 million since they need cash. The Belgian is prepared to leave Merseyside as well.
