Chelsea’s Kai Havertz wanted by Real Madrid

Kai Havertz is part of a list of players that Real Madrid will be targeting in the summer transfer window.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that Real Madrid have a concrete interest in signing the German attacker and want to hold talks with Chelsea about a potential signing.

Chelsea are open to holding talks with Madrid and also willing to let Havertz leave but only in case Madrid offer a substantial fee. Chelsea will not agree to a loan deal or anything other than a straight transfer.

The European giants from Madrid are looking to find a long-term replacement for club legend Karim Benzema, who is also rumoured to be interested in a move away to the Saudi Arabian league.

Even if Benzema was to stay, it would only be for another season as the 35-year-old is coming to the end of his career. Madrid are looking to solve this problem as soon as possible.

While Havertz is not an out-and-out striker, he could be effective in Madrid’s system where Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo cut inside from the wings and the striker plays as more of a false-nine.

Havertz has played as a striker for Chelsea this season and has not been very successful. He has looked out of position and also left a lot to be desired with his finishing.

The German has still been the Blue’s top scorer this season and elements of his game such as link-up play and movement off the ball have been impressive. Havertz still has the potential and it can be seen why Carlo Ancelotti rates the player.

At only 23, Ancelloti could tap into Havertz’s raw potential and turn him into a world-class attacker, playing in the false-nine role. He has all the attributes to make it his own and finally find his best position on the field.

Chelsea are really being ruthless with their recruitment and transfer strategy as it feels like nobody is untouchable. It has already been reported that Chelsea are okay with players such as Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, Mateo Kovacic and more leaving the club for the right price.

The Blues are looking to bring in a striker themselves as they have not been impressed with Havertz as the main guy upfront. Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic are the names being rumoured around Chelsea.

It may not have worked out for him at Chelsea, but Havertz will forever go down in Chelsea’s history for scoring the winning goal in the final of only their second Champions League success back in 2021.
