Gabriel Martinelli stars as Arsenal thrash Everton 4-0

Arsenal successfully managed to get past Everton on Wednesday, extending their lead at the top of the table to five points over second-placed Manchester City.

Although they struggled to carve out chances for the first 40 minutes, a Zinchenko pass to Saka completely unlocked the defence as the youngster slotted it home with his weak foot.

Saka again made an impact when he robbed Idrissa Gueye of the ball and assisted Martinelli, who beat Jordan Pickford to double Arsenal’s lead.

Martinelli proved instrumental throughout the game as he constantly swapped positions with Leandro Trossard, who started as a false 9 in place of Eddie Nketiah.

Trossard, himself, provided an assist for Odegaard, who took his tally to 9 Premier League goals this season.

Martinelli ended up scoring a brace as Arsenal put four past the struggling Everton. Fans even brought out the olés each time their team passed the ball in the latter stage of the match,

The Player of the Match was awarded to Martinelli, but the whole match was full of great performances; from Odegaard, Zinchenko, Saka, Partey and Gabriel, among others.

With just 13 games to go, Arsenal will be satisfied with a five-point lead over City, but the latter have shown over the years that they can go on a winning run at any moment.
