Giovani Lo Celso injury update: Midfielder set to miss Burnley game through injury

Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that Giovani Lo Celso will not be available for Tottenham’s Premier League clash against Burnley through injury.

Due to a quad strain, he was forced to leave the game early in the Carabao Cup loss against Fulham on Tuesday night. Youngster Dane Scarlett took his place.

Due to the same problem, Lo Celso will not be available for this weekend’s game at Turf Moor and will not be joining the Argentina team for this month’s international matches against Bolivia and Ecuador.

Postecoglou has revealed no more concerns as Spurs seek to go back to winning ways, other than the absence of the attacking midfielder for the match in Lancashire.

“From the other night, the only one missing is Gio Lo Celso,” said the 58-year-old in his pre-match press conference. “He’s got a quad strain, that’s why we took him off at half time. It’s nothing too serious. We’ve got the break coming up so hopefully not too long after that.”

A setback for Lo Celso at a crucial time for him as he seeks to establish himself at Tottenham, the midfielder will be determined to seize his chance following the break.

In the first four games of the new season for Spurs, the ex-Villarreal loanee has made two appearances.

Recently, Fabrizio Romano shared that Postecoglou was happy with Lo Celso and has had positive feedback for the Argentina international. Romano added that it would take a significant bid to change the club’s stance in the coming days.

Some Tottenham supporters who believe that the 27-year-old Lo Celso still has untapped potential may view this as positive news.

This summer, the midfielder was mentioned in connection with teams like Barcelona and Real Betis, but a transfer currently looks doubtful.
