After agreeing to a contract believed to last through June 2028, Alexis Mac Allister will leave Brighton and join Liverpool, pending the medical results.
Liverpool will fulfil the buyout provision in the contract of the Argentina international before moving on to other targets to complete their midfield reconstruction.
Mac Allister is due to have a medical in the next 48 hours. His contract’s buyout clause, agreed to just before he left for the World Cup, is considerably less than the £60 million. That deal has two seasons to run, with an additional one-year option for the club.

Manu Koné, a midfielder for Borussia Mönchengladbach, and Khéphren Thuram, a 22-year-old Nice player, are other players on Jürgen Klopp’s list. Both have competed for France at the junior level, and this year, Thuram earned his first senior cap.
The manager of Liverpool also has high regard for Gabri Veiga, a young player from Celta. However, there have been no negotiations for the 21-year-old.
