Liverpool and Manchester City interested in signing Chelsea’s Levi Colwill

According to the Evening Standard, Liverpool and Manchester City are keeping tabs on Chelsea center-back Levi Colwill’s development.

Both teams could pounce on the left-footed center-half since they need new defenders. Aymeric Laporte will leave Manchester City this summer, and they are searching for his replacement.

Since Joel Matip’s Liverpool contract expires in 2024, the Merseyside team might decide to offload him this summer.

They’ll also be looking for a replacement while considering the need to raise their domestic quota. This summer, the Premier League pair are considering bidding for him.

Chelsea will sell a number of players during the summer transfer window to abide by Financial Fair Play regulations.

They need to sell because they have spent more than £600 million over the last two transfer windows, and there is no chance of playing in Europe anytime soon.

Players from the club’s academy are pure profit because no money was spent on their acquisition. Man City and Liverpool will be ready and waiting if Chelsea decides to move the defender.

Colwill spent last season’s loan with Huddersfield Town, assisting them in making the promotion play-offs. He scored two goals and assisted in 29 Championship games last season.

His achievements attracted the attention of Brighton & Hove Albion, who requested him in exchange for Marc Cucurella.

The Blues rejected the offer and loaned him out to them for the entire season. He took some time to get going, but he is now a star with the Seagulls.

Chelsea will attempt to extend Colwill’s contract even though it has two years left on it. They’ll try to make money off the young player if they can’t get him to sign a new contract.
