Liverpool join race to sign Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi

Liverpool have joined the growing list of teams vying for the services of Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.

The 22-year-old England international, who might cost up to £50 million, has also attracted interest from Manchester United, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur.

However, Guehi may be outside Jurgen Klopp’s team’s price range, as they prioritize adding midfield reinforcements this summer.

At Old Trafford, Erik Ten Hag could need another centre-back and Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal were vulnerable in the title chase when William Saliba went down.

Former Chelsea defender Guehi, who has three England caps to his name, had constantly displayed strong play for a Palace team that will finish comfortably in the middle of the table thanks to an improvement in performance when Roy Hodgson replaced Patrick Vieira.

Palace won’t make decisions on the future of specific players until after hiring their new manager.

Guehi has played the full 90 minutes in each of the 36 Premier League games for which he has been eligible this season, but the high price he might potentially command may tempt Palace to sell.

They can also raise the amount because his current contract isn’t set to expire until 2026.

The Selhurst Park team is prepared to offer a contract extension to Jefferson Lerma, 28, whose Bournemouth contract expires this summer.

Goalkeeper Jack Butland of Palace, currently on loan at Manchester United, is still in contact with Rangers after demonstrating a willingness to work within their financial parameters.

Wilfried Zaha has reportedly received a pitch from Fenerbahce recently. However, he has more significant offers to weigh. Sunday’s season finale for Palace is against Nottingham Forest at home.
