Liverpool interested in young Italian defender Giorgio Scalvini

Liverpool are reportedly interested in young Serie A defender Giorgio Scalvini and he is keen on a move to the Premier League.

The 19-year-old is now playing for Atalanta in his second season in Italy. Bayern Munich, Juventus, Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid, and Liverpool are all interested. He is reportedly on top of their watch list.

It will cost the Premier League team almost £35 million to acquire Scalvini. This is the cost that Atlanta has determined.

The Serie A team will be pleased because they are in complete control of this transfer story. The contract for the defender has a summer 2027 expiration date.

Liverpool are looking to focus on developing some young defensive potential. Joel Matip and Virgil Van Dijk, two players at the club, are both 31 years old. Soon, Jurgen Klopp will have to start avoiding the veterans.

Some of Europe’s most elite clubs are showing a lot of interest in Scalvini. This demonstrates his immense potential.

The center-back has made 25 league appearances so far this season. In addition, he has two goals. At his age, it’s a fantastic accomplishment to be playing so frequently for a club that is currently ranked seventh.

Liverpool are up against tough opposition though. If they don’t make the Champions League this year, they might be a little concerned about their chances. But the Italian’s avowed desire to play in the Premier League may be advantageous for them.

He said: “For me it’s the best league there is, for the intensity. Once in my career, I don’t even know when, I’d like to play there.”
