Man United set to submit final Mason Mount bid

Manchester United are preparing to submit their third and final bid to sign Mason Mount as they look to seal the deal by the end of this week.

According to multiple reports, United are now offering Chelsea just over £55 million for Mount as a “take it or leave it” offer as the Mancunians do not wish to get into a long, drawn-out transfer saga.

United had their previous two offers rejected by Chelsea that were in the region of £45 to £50 million.

The Blues are still believed to be holding out for a fee of around £60 to £65 million but United feel confident that a deal can be agreed as their final offer will be north of £55 million and could include performance-based add-ons.

Chelsea initially were asking for a fee close to £70 million but it is believed that they are now willing to be more flexible as the Englishman has no intentions of signing a new deal at the club and will leave on a free next season, if priced out of a move now.

United are also prepared to walk away from the deal if Chelsea reject their offer and demand for more money. They would then look to sign Mount on a free transfer next summer.

It was revealed by journalist Fabrizio Romano that the Red Devils have reached a full agreement with the player on personal terms. He also reiterated that United are looking to finalise a deal with Chelsea by the end of this week.

The England international is rumoured to have agreed to a £200,000 per-week salary on a 5-year deal.

As of right now, this deal looks likely as all reports suggest that the player is ready to move to Old Trafford and Chelsea are willing to be flexible in order to make the move happen.

The Blues have already sold a whole host of their players, majorly to the Saudi league, and have made up a decent amount of money. Kai Havertz to Arsenal for around £65 million also looks like a done deal.

With just a year left on his contract and a poor showing in the 2022/23 season, Chelsea are doing an excellent job to get anywhere near £60 million for Mount. It once again goes to show that new owner Todd Boehly is a shrewd businessman.

The 24-year-old is reportedly Erik Ten Hag’s priority target and after him, United will look to move on to signing players in other key areas of the field. They remain in the market for a striker, another midfielder, a centre-back and now also a new goalkeeper amid the rumoured De Gea contract debacle.
