Manchester United hold transfer talks with Rasmus Hojlund and Randal Kolo Muani

Erik Ten Hag believes that Tottenham’s Harry Kane would be the ideal addition to the team this summer. However, there are serious questions about their ability to persuade Spurs to sell. As a result, according to The Athletic, talks with two strikers have begun with Atalanta and Frankfurt.

John Murtough, the football director for United, has started negotiations with both teams, but the latter may have the upper hand because manager Ten Hag’s agency is also with that club. Manchester Evening News claims that the two discussed a transfer over a number of video calls.

Frankfurt and Atalanta are rumored to be willing to sell their strikers, although Kolo Muani would cost £80 million (€93 million/$100 million). Given that Hojlund was only acquired by Atalanta from Sturm Graz last summer, it is unknown how much the Italian club would ask for the striker.

Rasmus Hojlund of Atalanta and Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag have spoken through video conference several times.

Ten Hag is determined that Hojlund, 20, is a realistic target for United, who are operating under the presumption that Tottenham will not part with Harry Kane.

According to sources, the SEG International firm representing Ten Hag is reportedly also pursuing Hojlund as a client.

Hojlund, a Danish international who only recently relocated to Italy from Austrian club Sturm Graz last year, has scored 15 goals in 41 games for Atalanta. In his last two games for Denmark, he has plundered five goals.

When Ten Hag stated last month that players were “keen” on joining United, he later acknowledged that he had spoken with potential targets.

“I see a big difference compared to last year,” Ten Hag said. “There were a lot of reservations last year when I spoke with players, and now many players see the project, what’s going on, the dynamic and the ambition in this project, the quality especially. They are really keen to come, I’ve noticed that.

“It looks like there were a lot of reservations last year and doubts when we approached players. This year, many quality players really want to come.”

Randal Kolo Muani, the lethal goal scorer of Eintracht Frankfurt, is also being watched by United. In 45 games with Eintracht, who are placed seventh in the Bundesliga, Muani scored 23 goals.

Both Eintracht and Atalanta missed out on the Champions League, which might make the transfer process easier for prospective purchasing teams. Both Muani and Hojlund have contracts that expire in 2027.

Atalanta have become renowned for developing quality young players, and United bought Amad Diallo from them for a fee of £37 million in 2020.
