“It has to be perfect”: Mikel Arteta speaks ahead of Arsenal vs Manchester City

Mikel Arteta spoke during a pre-match conference ahead of the vital Premier League fixture against Manchester City, urging his team for the performance needed to secure a result at the Etihad Stadium.

“Mentality plays a huge part. Obviously, the belief is there. When I look at how they train, how they reacted after that [result against Southampton], the mood in the dressing room, the way they defended each other in each moment – we really want it.

“We’re going to show that again tomorrow night, but then you have to deliver in the right moment, the right performance and it has to be perfect because that’s what these last levels demand. It’s absolute perfection in every single ball.”

The pressure is huge on The Gunners after 3 successive draws against Liverpool, West Ham and Southampton have cut their gap at the top to five points with City having two games in hand.

A loss today will put the chances of winning the title in serious jeopardy. However, Arteta maintained that this game is not a title decider.

“That game is going to be really important. But is it going to define the season? No. If we win tomorrow night, we haven’t won the league.”
