Newcastle now monitoring Samuel Iling-Junior

Newcastle United are one of many clubs keeping an eye on Juventus winger Samuel Iling-Junior’s position, according to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti.

The Magpies are looking to add to their squad as Eddie Howe prepares his team for the Champions League this season.

According to a March report from 90min, Newcastle was one of several Premier League clubs considering a move for Iling-Junior ahead of the summer transfer window.

According to the source, Newcastle are joined in their pursuit of the winger by Chelsea and Manchester City, with Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund also expressing interest.

Galetti told GiveMeSport: “Juventus, for sure, this summer will change something in this squad.

“Some players could leave on loan to grow and improve. Samuel Iling-Junior is one of them.

“He could leave Juventus on loan this summer, and many clubs have shown interest in him. From the Premier League, Manchester City, Newcastle, and Chelsea are monitoring his situation.”

With Newcastle contending on both the domestic and European fronts this season, Howe will need to add to his squad depth.

And Iling-Junior, branded dreamy by journalist Antonio Mango, could be the ideal addition to the Magpies squad as he seeks to create a name for himself in European football.

Last season, the England U20 international made 18 appearances for Juventus’ senior squad, scoring once and registering two assists, indicating that he needs to move somewhere where he can play regularly.

Despite his lack of senior playing experience, the Islington-born star’s numbers are excellent, with 0.36 assists per 90 minutes over the last 365 days, according to FBref.

As a result, a move to the Premier League could be just what Iling-Junior needs to advance his career, with Newcastle hoping to capture the young prodigy.
