Transfer-specialist Fabrizio Romano has reported that McTominay is on the wishlist for Newcastle in the summer transfer window.
Newcastle boss Eddie Howe appreciates the Scottish international and would like to sign him to strengthen his midfield.
The Magpies also tried to sign McTominay in January of this year but Manchester United were not interested in selling him back then.
Romano reports that Man United have not made a decision yet on McTominay and it depends on manager Ten Hag’s plans for the player.
Further reports in England suggest that Man United are willing to move on the Scot in order to raise funds to further strengthen their squad.

Being an academy graduate, selling McTominay would also help Man United spend more money while staying within FFP guidelines. The club are looking to move on other academy products like Dean Henderson and Axel Tuanzebe for the same reason.
McTominay started the season as Man United’s main defensive-midfielder until they signed Casemiro later on in the summer transfer window. McTominay even kept Casemiro out of the first team for a few weeks but was eventually replaced by the veteran.
He has featured heavily for his boyhood club having been a regular for over 2 years under previous manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. He was handed his debut under Jose Mourinho back in 2017.
McTominay, now 26, is no longer a young prospect for the future and more importantly, he is no longer a starter at Man United.
A fresh start at a blooming club like Newcastle might be just the perfect move to reignite his career.
