Thomas Partey injury update: Arsenal face scare ahead of Leeds clash

Thomas Partey could be an injury concern ahead of Arsenal’s clash against Leeds on April 1 as he was left out of Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

He is set for checks today at London Colney, as reported by Charles Watts. It is believed that he was left out as a precaution and nothing significant.

The midfielder has been one of the main pieces in Arsenal’s surprise title charge this season, pulling the strings from deep and helping in controlling games.

Since Partey was brought in from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2020, the team have struggled every time he gets injured.

They have previously relied on Mohamed Elneny and Albert Sambi Lokonga as backups but the gap in quality has been glaringly obvious.

To address this, Jorginho was signed from Chelsea during the January transfer window and while the gap isn’t the same, Partey has still proved more crucial.

With Arsenal hoping to win the Premier League title for the first time in nearly 20 years, they will be hoping to keep him fit for as many games as possible, especially with Manchester City breathing down their neck.
