Youri Tielemans confirmed to leave Leicester as free agent

Leicester midfield Youri Tielemans will be leaving the club as a free agent in the summer, as per Fabrizio Romano.

The player has been at the club for almost four and a half years after an initial loan move from AS Monaco, which was later made permanent.

Tielemans has been instrumental in Leicester’s recent success, including their FA win in 2021. He scored the only goal in a 1-0 win over Chelsea which will be etched in the club’s history.

However, the club has recently been on a decline and is likely to be relegated this season, despite sacking Brendan Rodgers and hiring Dean Smith.

Currently in the 19th position, an escape feels hard, especially considering that their next fixture is against the high-flying Newcastle United away from home.

Tielemans was heavily linked with an Arsenal move in the summer which never materialised as the club was reluctant to sell.

They chose to keep hold of the player despite him being in the last year of the contract. Any signs of a possible renewal have been left impossible due to Leicester’s disappointing season.

A host of clubs will be interested in signing the coveted Belgian, including the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United.
